Pro Next Season
General News by Nelson on April 16, 2005 at 04:27 PM

With 3 rounds left in regular season, it is time to start building for next season.

As some of you may know, there have been extensive discussion of a salary based structure. After a lot of discussion among captains and myself, it had went to voting and the results are: YES 9, NO 6, with one vote unaccounted for.

So next season will be based on a salary structure. Now some of you fear your teams breaking up but it was designed to unstack the big name teams and not hurt smaller teams like starseed, symphony, redshift, nightbane, etc.

I have been approached by many individuals who do not understand the structure we are putting forth probably due to miscommunication between captains and their players. But without further adue, here is the structure that has been voted in:

Players are ranked: 1-5 (5 being highest) by a panel of 10, average is taken, high and low is taken out before average. Why not 1-10? because in my experience from running draft league, NO ONE EVER GETS RANKED BELOW FOUR, EVEN A COMPLETE NEWBIE. So having it below 5 or so is really pointless.

Players ranked 4.0 - 5.0 are tier 1 players (Pro league mvps).
Players ranked 3.0 - 4.0 are tier 2 players (moderate pro players/good iml players).
Players ranked 2.0 - 3.0 are tier 3 players (moderate iml/good aml players)
Players ranked 1.0 - 2.0 are tier 4 players (moderate aml players)
Players ranked 0.0 - 1.0 are tier 5 players (complete newbies, likely from TW)

Additional information:

Panel of 10 will consist of people who want to do it but I will be choosing those who are considered adequate to do the job. IE. people who are currently active and also have been playing league for a considerable amount of time. Also people who have done good unbiased predictions/rankings currently or in the past. Identities of these individuals will remain disclosed as most likely they will get flamed for ranking someone below or above where the individual "thinks" they should belong. Having undisclosed identities allows them to rank pilots unbiasedly without fear of backlash.

Ranking by the panel should be considered like these examples:

As in good, I mean MVP.

Player "Pro League MVP"

If this player played AML, would he be a good AML player? Yes
If this player played IML, would he be a good IML player? Yes
If this player played PRO, would he be a good PRO player? Yes

Therefore, his ranking should be in the Tier 1 range.

Player "Moderate PRO"

If this player played AML, would he be a good AML player? Yes
If this player played IML, would he be a good IML player? Yes
If this player played PRO, would he be a good PRO player? No

Therefore, his ranking should be in the Tier 2 range

Player "Moderate IML"

If this player played AML, would he be a good AML player? Yes
If this player played IML, would he be a good IML player? No

Therefore, his ranking should be in the Tier 3 range.

Player Allowances:

2 x Tier 1 Players with no more than 9.7 total
4 x Tier 2 Players with no more than 14.5 total
8 x Tier 3 Players or below with no limit for total

If a team only secures 1 x Tier 1 player, they will be allowed to have 5 x Tier 2 players but the total will increase to 14.5 + 4 = 18.5.

If a team does not secure any Tier 1 players, they will be allowed to have 6 x Tier 2 players but the total will increase to 14.5 + 4 + 4 = 22.5

The same rules apply to Tier 2 players as per the above examples except that there is no limit total for Tier 3 Players and below.

There will be no drafting rounds. You recruit whomever you want, and you join whomever you want. As long as your roster meets the above standards, it is okay.

In the end, your roster should consist of 14 players or less.

I am now accepting applications to be a ranker on the panel. You can contact me in game, on the message board or via e-mail. Please ensure that you leave me your e-mail address in your message. I will be requiring that you have Microsoft Excel, it makes life easier as there will probably be about 600 players ranked. If you don't have excel, go download office from kazaa or eMule or something.

If you have played a game in AML/IML/PRO this season, your name will be added to the ranking spreadsheet, otherwise you will need to get in contact with me to have your name added to the list. All new names being added to the list will be alias checked. Any attempts to cheat with a new name will suffer punishment from not being allowed to play next season. I will be posting the player list at Players List within the next couple of days.

Pro may expand in size due to smaller roster sizes, but that will be determined during the off season and the state of IML.

Pro league will once again allow roster movement until playoffs since it is now pointless to squad hop since you cannot join a team that is maxed out in tiers.

Pro League Senate
General News by Nelson on April 12, 2005 at 05:19 PM

Captains, if you have not already done so, you must vote on the Salary Based System in the Pro Senate board. There are only 12/16 votes currently with it tied.

Daylight Savings
General News by Mizerie on April 01, 2005 at 10:00 PM

Reminder:
Daylight savings time rears its ugly head this Saturday night/Early Sunday.
At 2am on Sunday April 3rd the clocks will roll forward one hour to 3am. Keep this in mind for your matches, you dont want to show up an hour late to your match on Sunday since games are scheduled based on United States East Coast Time (EST/EDT)

IMPORTANT: Brother List
General News by Demishadow on April 01, 2005 at 09:27 AM

I have cleaned up the brotherlist notification board for this season. Once again, EVERYONE who is sharing a computer this season (from r1 and onwards) MUST enter a notice into the list. Failure to do so will end up in a ban.

The info I require has been updated. This is due to the events of last season. Make sure to read the instructions under:
http://ssleague.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=338

If there are any notices I have significant doubt over I will mark the sharers as ineligible. If the case is strong enough I will treat it as double squadding.

AML/Pro: The deadline for posting about any (valid) sharing that has happened from the sunday of r1 till the presend day will be the saturday before r3 starts (April 9th).
IML: The deadline for posting about any sharing from pre-season r3 (r1 for aml/pro) until the present day will be the saturday before r2 starts (April 9th).

- I expect more info this time around so I will accept responses without item #4 until April 16th. After that date you must have gone back and edited the original post (or made a new one) including that info.

Please remember... posting about your sharing last season does not mean you dont post about it again for this season.
