First I would like to apologize for the significant delay in relaying the final version of our playoffs to the public, this was not the intention rather Demishadow had some serious issues arise and was able to participate in game as much as he had previously planned. I have worked hard to fill the gaps and I have enjoyed working with the AML community.
I will do my best to make this as clear as possible, and please ask questions if you have any. After the regular season each team will participate in 3 ladder/seeding rounds which will be immediately followed by the playoffs. A quick outline of the seeding rounds....
Also avalible in the AML Forum here
- In the first round you will be playing against the team in the opposite divsion that is ranked the same as you.
Balder _______________ Thor
#1 team ____ VS ____ #1 team
#2 team ____ VS ____ #2 team
#3 team ____ VS ____ #3 team
#4 team ____ VS ____ #4 team
#5 team ____ VS ____ #5 team
etc...
If you win you get bumped up one position, if you loose you are bumped down. So lets say for example this is how the first round ends:
Balder ___________________ Thor
#1 teamA ____ BEAT ____ #1 teamB
#2 teamA ____ BEAT ____ #2 teamB
#3 teamA __ LOST TO ___ #3 teamB
#4 teamA ____ BEAT ____ #4 teamB
#5 teamA __ LOST TO ___ #5 teamB
#6 teamA __ LOST TO ___ #6 teamB
#7 teamA __ LOST TO ___ #7 teamB
#8 teamA ____ BEAT ____ #8 teamB
Given the results of round 1 you now throw out Divisions and deal strickly with rankings, bear with me on this step its long:
#1 teamA RETAINS a #1 rank
#1 teamB DROPS to a #2 rank
-
#2 teamA GOES UP to a #1 rank
#2 teamB DROPS to a #3 rank
-
#3 teamA DROPS to a #4 rank
#3 teamB GOES UP to a #2 rank.
-
etc... displaying in colums works best
1 1 ========> 1 2
2 2 ========> 1 3
3 3 ========> 4 2
4 4 ===turns==> 3 5
5 5 ===into===> 6 4
6 6 ========> 7 5
7 7 ========> 6 8
8 8 ========> 7 9
Now that we have the rankings from the results of round 1 we can schedule for round 2. Simply pair up the 1's so that those teams play each other. Pair up the 2's to play each other, so on and so on. We repeat this for round 2 and 3 of the ladder/seeding rounds.
NOTE: In the example teams ranked 8,9 after r1 are now unable to make playoffs mathematically. Such will also happen after r2 and r3.
NOTE: Ballistics is excluded from playing the above rounds.
Cross divisional matches are guaranteed for the first round and probable for the other 2 rounds, this is why we ignore divisions during these rounds.
After the 3 ladder/seeding rounds the teams are ranked 1-10 based on -
- Rank after the ladder/seeding rounds
- Win/Loss
- Head to Head
- Differential
the TOP 10 TEAMS go to playoffs!
and yes it could be 6 teams from one division and 4 teams from the other. This is the effect that the balancing rounds have.
