IML News by Covert Agent on July 27, 2004 at 03:11 AM

The appeal of the third game of the IML finals has been granted. The match will be replayed August 8th. I'll post the exact details of the replay later.

Pro League
General News by Nelson on July 22, 2004 at 11:44 PM

Applications for pro is now officially closed. This season will have 16 squads. But more importantly, here's the schedule:

Pro League Regular Season Schedule

I probably won't input them into MR right now as there are holidays along the way and it messes things up when you have to push everything a week all the time. But they will be put into MR during that week (and also the bots will be able to communicate with the db and get the correct games). So refer to the schedule for your regular season matchups. And also, captains should have access to update their rosters and to the senate. If you have any problems, contact me.

AML
AML News by Demishadow on July 20, 2004 at 05:08 PM

Well, its not the most known bit of information...

But I am the sysop of AML for this upcomming season. Tick and I have formed a close working relationship for this upcomming season which should provide a very strong leadership package.

For those that dont know, my other nic is Wolfperson. Thus I was sysop for a large number of seasons as "Wolf+". I was strongly involved in the re-creation of AML with hed1/DS. I co-sysoped AML for multiple seasons with Madaxe.

My strengths do lay with technical aspects and to some degree staff management. I will be representing AML in high level league talks with guidence from tick. We will be using a distributed approach as to not overlap our focuses.

As to next season, tick and I do have some ideas that I need to clear with other high staff and then we shall present these to the aml population for discussion. Tick will continue to handle the squads for AML. I will only involve myself in cases that are disputed.

Last season tick made a number of steps forward with trying to bring in votes for decisions. These showed some promise and we hope to expand/develop these further. Lets see if we can get it done without as many problems.

My other jobs will, for the time being, be rules coordinator and co-security coordinator.

Following my tradional approach, I most likely will not play for an AML team this season, helping to insure a level of impartiality in decisions.

Logging in with "+" names
General News by Demishadow on July 18, 2004 at 09:49 PM

From now on we will be very strict at making sure that only real moderators log in with names that indicate powers. This is especially true for names that end in the premier-standard "name+" style.

If anyone logs in with such a name they will be asked to log out immediately. If this is refused then we will forcefully remove you from the zone and lock you out.

Side note: Raze+ aka Primacy is not a premier league ref. The length of his punishment WILL be increased however due to him having a "+" name on.

Currently, there are 8 squad returning to pro (and it seems like it will be 8/9). Maximum number of squads for next season is 16. Deadline for squads wanting to move up will be July 18th, one week from today.

AML Returning squads.
AML News by tick on July 08, 2004 at 04:46 PM

I will start to email each and every captain who finished last season of AML to see if there squad will return. After that is done, I will start emailing the waiting list squads. Premier League hopes to have 28 squads that the previous season of AML had, and should be a action packed season like always.

Also, if you want to donate to AML for the end of season prize, then please do so. If alot of people could donate, even if its just 5$ then I think we could have a big prize at the end of the season. I myself will try to donate if I figure out how to use my debit card on paypal.

Thank you

Champions Pool
General News by Ace on July 08, 2004 at 01:38 PM

As you can see, we put up a handy-dandy donate button for everyone that cares to donate. All players are welcome to donate to the league of their choice. 100% of the proceeds will be paid out to league champions. League Managers will decide how the money is to be paid out each season for each league. Possibilities might be a lump sum for 1st place or perhaps a tiered split among the top several teams. If donations for lower leagues surpass higher leagues, expect the prize to be spread out over multiple seasons to ensure higher leagues have higher prizes.

We will publish the names and amounts of donations as we receive them unless you specifically request to remain anonymous. The total pools for each league will be announced before regular season starts.

If you have any qualms about donating to a staffer's paypal account, feel free to contact your league manager or another staff member to handle details. And of course, you have the option of making a verbal commitment to donate for award personally to the winners after the season ends, however these amounts will most likely only be considered part of an unnofficial award pool.

Thanks goes out to everyone that continues to generate interest in our leagues and support the free community as we approach Subpspace's 10th anniversary.

Pro Announcements
General News by Nelson on July 05, 2004 at 10:01 AM

During the off-season, there will be changes made. But particularly on how the league is run. I will be introducing the idea and now implementing the idea of a Pro Senate. This senate is composed of a squad captain from each squad in pro and me. The senate will have the powers to make changes to pro such as mines, item counts, subbing rules etc. These changes are limited only within the realms of pro league but will not touch onto Premier policies that directly affect the entire league (AML + IML + Pro).

It will work like this for example:

Someone says "I don't like mines, let's remove them".
Two other captains must second this idea and then I will set up a voting thread for removing mines. Note that your votes as captains will be made open to the public, so let's say Captain A voted for removing mines, I will actually post that Captain A voted for removing mines on the pro board. If the majority of the captains vote for about 65% or better for changing current settings and etc, the change will take effect.

Captains who do not vote will forfeit upcoming matches. You may ask why there is such a harsh penalty for non-voting but that is because if no one voted, we would have 3 captains running the future of the league.

I always reserve the right to overturn abominations. This is to protect the league such as in the case if you all voted for super ship settings.

The Pro League Senate board has been setup and can only be viewed by squad captains and me.

Now that I finished with that, another announcment will be that there will be a 400 USD jackpot for the winners of pro next season (if you don't have paypal, then that's too bad :( ).

I am now accepting returning squads for pro next season. If your team is returning to pro, please contact me by: posting on the pro board, msging me in game, leaving me a ?message in game or e-mailing me via one of the staff links. I expect notification of your squad's status by July 18th. Notification after this date will result in forfeit of your spot. All returning squad captains will be given access to the Pro League Senate board.
